Corporate social responsibility is one of the basic principles of corporate governance and also one of the main pillars of sustainable development. Based on this, Cyrela decided to concentrate its external social investments in a non-profit organization exclusively aimed at such resources. Thus Cyrela Institute was born late 2010.
The Institute started its operations in March 2011. Thereafter, education actions started to be coordinated by Cyrela Institute. The association’s principles are a tripod - transparency, social responsibility, and corporate governance: the same that rule the Company’s management. The Institute has the primary goal of improving the life of workers in civil construction and their families through free professional courses. Cyrela Institute is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the social investments and will review future partnerships with the aim of finding projects that are aligned to the business strategy of the Company, based on the concept of shared value.
In addition to the coordination of existing programs, Building People and Building Professionals, the Institute will develop actions for two new projects: Building Families, which is aimed at increasing the average family income of employees, offering professionalizing courses to families of workers; and the Volunteering Program, that will develop programs with the help of internal volunteers.
The resources to the Institute will come from Cyrela, with the earmarking of 1% of its net income. The entity will be managed by the Board of Directors, a Consulting Board and an Executive Board, counting also on the participation of all members of the Group’s Board of Directors and two executive directors.
